Repair Concrete Hairline Cracks

A grout made of Portland cement and water can fix most small cracks in concrete. Add water to the cement to form a thick paste, moisten the existing concrete along the hairline crack with water for several hours before trying to add grout.

Moistening the concrete will prevent it from absorbing water from the grout, and no water should be standing on the surface when the grout is applied.

After the concrete crack has been lightly wetted and well cleaned, apply the grout with a pointing trowel or putty knife. Spread the grout into the crack and smooth it off so it is level with the original concrete surface.

Allow the patched area to dry for two hours and cover the area with a piece of plastic sheeting. Keep the repaired area covered for five days while sprinkleing the area with water once a day to keep the repair moist.
